The full Chinese name of MOPS is 3-morpholinopropanesulfonic acid, CSA number is 1132-61-2, it is a member of the biological valley buffer, and can be used in biochemical diagnostic kits, DNA/RNA extraction kits and PCR diagnostic kits. Ingredients in Good's buffer for biological research.
The MOPS buffer range is between 6.5 and 7.9, which is suitable for electron transfer and phosphorylation studies of chloroplast thin-layer preparation; it can be formulated into a variety of agar media and used in minimal media as a non-toxic buffer for Streptomyces clavuligerus Cultivation and production of cephalosporins; it can be used as a component of the electrolyte system of two-dimensional gel electrophoresis and isoelectric focusing (IEF); it can also be used in Northern hybridization as a buffer for RNA separation and membrane transfer.
The commonly used 10×MOPS Buffer preparation methods are as follows:
(1) Weigh 41.8 g MOPS and dissolve it in about 700mL DEPC treated water;
(2) Use 2 N NaOH to adjust the pH to 7.0;
(3) Add 20mL of DEPC-treated 1M NaOAC and 20mL of 0.5M EDTA (pH8.0) to the solution;
(4) Dilute the volume to 1 L, filter it with a 0.45 μm filter membrane to remove impurities, and store at room temperature away from light.
MOPS is a zwitterionic buffer. If the amount of use is small each time, it can be used after proper packaging.
